The Tire Technician at Resource Transport plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of Resource Transport’s fleet. This position is responsible for installing, repairing, balancing, and maintaining tires on Kenworth and Freightliner vehicles, as well as supporting roadside service needs. The Tire Technician must demonstrate strong attention to detail, technical skill, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship in both shop and field environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, remove, repair, balance, rotate, and maintain tires on Kenworth and Freightliner tractors and related equipment.
- Perform tire changes, puncture repairs, wheel balancing, and assist with alignments to ensure safe vehicle operation.
- Conduct routine tire inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential safety concerns and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide roadside tire service and emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Operate tire machines, balancers, air tools, jacks, and other specialized tire service equipment safely and effectively.
- Manage and track tire inventory, including receiving, staging, and documenting tire usage.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation related to tire work performed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in both the shop and service truck.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, dispatch, and leadership regarding tire conditions, service needs, and repair timelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in tire service or mechanics preferred.
- Proven experience as a Tire Technician, preferably working with heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles.
- Familiarity with Kenworth and Freightliner equipment strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of tire safety standards, proper mounting and balancing techniques, and tire inspection procedures.
- Experience with roadside service and working in outdoor environments.
- Ability to safely operate tire service equipment and tools.
- Must provide own tools and maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company policy.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up 50 lbs and occasionally more with assistance of medical devices.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb for extended periods during the workday.
- Able to work underneath, around, and inside heavy equipment in small spaces.
- Able to use hands and fingers for gripping, handling tools, operating diagnostic equipment, and performing precise mechanical repairs.
- Able to frequently reach above shoulder level and below the waist
- Able to safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, jacks, hoists, and other shop equipment.
- Able to climb ladders and mount/dismount heavy equipment safety.
- Able to work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, grease, noise, vibration, and exposure to chemicals or fumes.
- Able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, and respirators when required.
- Able to visually inspect equipment, read gauges and technical manuals, and distinguish colors related to wiring and diagnostics.

Schedule: 2 weeks on / 1 week off rotation, 12-hour shifts
