Job Overview

‍

The Driver (Appalachia) is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of frac sand and related materials to and from designated locations. This role is critical to the logistics and supply chain operations of the Company, ensuring reliable delivery to support our customers’ operational needs. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a commercial vehicle to transport sand and related materials while complying with all traffic laws, Company safety policies, DOT requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
• Conduct routine pre- and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, ensure all equipment is in proper working condition, and promptly report maintenance or repair needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely records, including freight tickets, bills of lading, hours of service, Electronic Log Device (ELD) entries, and incident reports.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies, including accidents and breakdowns, by following established safety protocols and promptly contacting appropriate personnel or authorities.
• Maintain professional, respectful, and effective communication with leadership, team members, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Comply with attendance and scheduling requirements and accurately record time worked in the ELD.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills while working independently and adapting to changing schedules, production demands, and operational priorities.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 22 years old.
• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Current DOT Medical Card required.
• Minimum 3 years of driving experience, including at least 1 year of recent tractor-trailer experience within the past 3 years.
• Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) meet Company insurance requirements and standards.
• Must meet all applicable DOT qualification requirements.
• Must successfully pass required pre-employment screening, including DOT drug screen, criminal background check, MVR review, employment verification, and road test.
• Cannot be currently participating in a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) program.
• Technically proficient and comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and various software programs to perform daily job duties.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English. 

Physical Requirements:

• Sit for extended periods behind the wheel for 8+ hours per day.
• Maintain posture and focus for extended periods, including in rough road conditions.
• Operate vehicle controls precisely, including the steering wheel, pedals, and gear shifter.
• Maintain strong situational and visual awareness in busy, noisy environments such as truck yards and loading docks.
• Accurately interpret traffic signs and road markings and communicate effectively with others.
• Regularly climb in and out of the truck cab and trailer and climb ladders or steps to inspect or access cargo, as needed.
• Bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to connect trailers and secure loads.
• Walk around the vehicle to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Stand for extended periods while waiting.
• Push, pull, and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Driver must weigh less than 350 pounds due to the weight rating limitations of the tractor seat.
• Perform work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and inclement weather.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to steel-toed boots, coveralls, hard hats or bump caps, safety glasses, and appropriate gloves, as required.

Schedule:

Local Drivers:

• Week 1: 5 days on / 2 days off
• Week 2: 6 days on / 1 day off
• 12-hour shifts (day or night rotation)

Non-Local Drivers:

• 6 days on / 1 day off weekly
• 12-hour shifts (day or night rotation)

Hitch Schedules:

• Drivers who are not local to Pennsylvania or unwilling to commute may discuss alternative hitch schedules based on operational needs (example: 3 weeks on / 1 week off).
